Description
The Obsidian Range – 25L Super Charged Starter Kit
The Obsidian Range is our 25-litre Bokashi composting system — designed for households, entertainers and busy kitchens that generate more food waste.
Sleek. Bold. Powerful.
This black bucket, as pretty as our white ones, makes a statement while quietly transforming your food waste into nutrient-rich soil builder.
Unlike traditional composting, Bokashi is an anaerobic fermentation process — meaning:
✔ No smells
✔ No flies
✔ No pests
✔ No greenhouse gas-producing rot
You can compost:
- Fruit & vegetables
- Cooked food
- Meat & bones
- Dairy
- Bread & grains
- Coffee grounds & tea bags
The 25L capacity means fewer bucket swaps and more convenience — perfect for larger households or those serious about diverting organics from landfill ahead of South Africa’s 2027 zero-organics mandate.

- 🥄 How Bokashi Works
Bokashi is not composting in the traditional sense. It’s fermentation.
You layer food waste with Bokashi Bran®, which contains beneficial microbes.
These microbes ferment your waste in an airtight environment, preventing rot and odour.
After 10–14 days of fermentation, the contents can be:
• Buried in soil
• Added to a compost heap
• Placed in a soil factory
• Used in large planters
Within weeks, it transforms into nutrient-rich organic matter.
- 📝 How To Use Your Obsidian Bokashi Bucket
Step 1: Add Food Waste
Chop large items into smaller pieces for faster fermentation.
Step 2: Sprinkle Bokashi Bran
Add one scoop per layer of food waste.
Step 3: Press Down
Remove air pockets and close the lid tightly.
Step 4: Ferment
When full, seal the bucket and leave for 2 weeks out of direct sunlight to complete the fermentation process.
Step 5: Drain Liquid
Drain after the 2-week fermentation period using the tap.
Dilute 1:300 with water and use as plant feed.
Step 6: Return to Soil
Bury or add to compost to complete the cycle.
