Which Bokashi Kit Is Right for You? A Simple Buying Guide
Ready to start with bokashi but not sure which kit to choose? It comes down to two simple questions: how much food waste your household makes, and whether you’d like one bucket or two.
Every Bokashi Bran® kit includes everything you need to start the day it arrives. This guide explains what’s in each one, so you can pick the right fit in a minute.

1kg of Bokashi Bran® typically lasts about three to four weeks, depending on your household size.
Which kit suits your household?
Living alone, as a couple or in a flat? Choose the Bachelor Kit. One bucket is plenty for a smaller household. When it’s full, it rests for two weeks to finish fermenting, so you’ll want a spot for your scraps during that time. Many people add a second bucket later as they get into the habit.
A family or a busy kitchen? Choose the Super-Charged Starter Kit. Two buckets mean you never have to stop: while one full bucket ferments, you keep filling the other. It also includes a counter container to collect scraps while you cook, at a lower price than buying it separately.
Already have a counter container? Choose the Starter Kit. You get the same two-bucket system and 2kg of bran as the Super-Charged kit, without a second counter container you don’t need.
Not sure? For most families, two buckets is the easier way to go.
Obsidian or Alba: choosing your bucket
Every kit comes in two ranges, at the same price. The only difference is the bucket.

Want something special? The Deluxe range
The Deluxe kits are the Bachelor and Super-Charged Starter kits with an upgrade on your counter: the Deluxe Counter Caddy replaces the standard counter container.
The Deluxe Counter Caddy is a 6-litre metal container with a matte white powder-coated finish, a lid with a charcoal filter to trap odours, and a stainless-steel swing handle. It looks good enough to leave out on the counter, which makes it a lovely gift too.
